An organised trip can make travelling in Morocco easier: transport is arranged, a guide knows the route and the accommodation is booked. The quality of that trip, though, depends almost entirely on the agency running it. Here is a practical checklist to help you choose with confidence.
1. Check that the agency is real and licensed
A professional agency has a registered business and is licensed to operate. It should be able to tell you its full name, where it is based and how to reach it. Be cautious with offers that only exist as a social media post with a phone number and no identifiable business behind them.
2. Look for a clear, detailed itinerary
A good offer describes the trip day by day: where you go, what you do and where you sleep. Vague descriptions such as "discover the south" make it hard to compare prices and easy for expectations to differ.
3. Know exactly what the price includes
- Transport, and the type of vehicle
- Accommodation, and whether rooms or bathrooms are private or shared
- Which meals are included
- Activities, entrance fees and guides
- What is not included, such as drinks, tips or optional excursions
4. Confirm the practical details
- The pickup point and time, and where the trip ends
- The departure dates on offer
- The size of the group
- Whether a guide or driver speaks your language
5. Read the cancellation conditions before you pay
Conditions vary from one agency to another. Ask what happens if you cancel, if the agency changes the programme or if the trip does not reach its minimum number of participants, and keep the answer in writing.
6. Pay safely
Pay only the agency named on the offer, using the payment methods it provides, and always ask for a receipt. Be wary if someone asks you to send money to a different person or account, or pressures you to pay immediately to hold a place.
7. Read reviews from real travellers
Reviews are most useful when you know they come from people who actually took the trip. Look at recent reviews and at how the agency responds to criticism, not only at the overall rating.
